Getting Your Roof Ready for Winter

Winter brings with it many challenges for your roofing system. Cold, snow and ice put additional stresses on your roof, and Nor‘easter winds can bring damage as well. As part of a quarterly visual inspection schedule, here are some things to look for when assessing your roof’s readiness for winter.

Ensure that downspouts are clear of any Fall debris, including runoff at ground level.

Examine areas of concern where ice dams could form.

Check flashing for cracks or sun rot, including any metal at the perimeter edge of the building.

Check any joints where contraction during the cold could cause leaks.

Inside, check for signs of leaks on walls, ceiling and ceiling tiles.

Should you have any concerns about the state of your roof and its readiness for this Winter, call us to schedule an inspection.
